Recess Appointments
There is some controversy going on about the recess appointments that President Obama made in the last few weeks. The Constitution says that "The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session." In other words, the Vacancy must occur during the recess; if the Vacancy happens before the recess, it cannot be filled during the recess. Read this. HT Volokh commenter

Romney uses tech to reach voters
Mitt Romney, who tied with Santorum in the Iowa caucus, apparently has very sophisticated tech effort to reach voters. He is marrying commercially available lists with voter lists and tailoring the message in those telephone "town halls" by interest groups.

Scandal and Fraud
If you google "obama scandal" and "obama fraud" (no quotes) you get a total of about 127 million hits. Do the same thing for Bush and you get about 170 million. On a per year basis (Obama 3 years and Bush 8 years) that's about 42 million per year for Obama and 21 million per year for Bush. Anyone who claims Obama has no scandals or fraud is out of touch with reality. For a couple of specific Obama frauds/scandals, try "fast and furious" or "solyandra".

"Simply put: a society that needs a government to function cannot be trusted to run one. A society that can be trusted to run a government, doesn't need it. " Althouse commenter
