Rafts

Is the title of Bill Whittle's latest post. It's the introduction to a new book titled "AN AMERICAN CIVILIZATION". As always with his stuff, it's a must read.

Dumb Idea

From the June 5th issue of US News and World Report, page 17, comes a really dumb idea:
Voting has been seen as a civic duty in the American democratic system, but never mind that. Mark Osterloh, a Tucson political activist, thinks he has a better idea: a lotterylike system that would increase voter turnout by paying one lucky veter $1 million after each election.

Great. Now we'll have millions more ignorant voters making decisions for the rest of us.
